Did you know that currently there are more than 40 children in the Monroe, NY at North Main Elementary School who are new to this country and need our help? These youngsters are adjusting to our culture, learning English and striving to succeed in school under conditions of extreme poverty. You can really have an impact on the lives of these kids!
The Jerome Spector Social Action Fund is leading the community efforts to respond to their needs by providing:
• A book bag full of needed school supplies at the start of the school year
• A weeks worth of healthy after school snacks every week throughout the school year
• Warm outwear- coats, hats, gloves and socks
• Supermarket gift cards to address severe food insecurity impacting these participating families
• Educational games, books, and even soccer balls and jump ropes.
With your financial contribution to the Jerome Spector Social Action Fund, we can insure that these children will have their essential needs met and are given the opportunity to flourish.

Snack Bag Program

Jerome Spector was a social action visionary who started the Snack Bag program locally over 10 years ago. After his passing from COVID in April 2020, this fund was renamed in his memory and continues his mission of social justice.
Members of Congregation Eitz Chaim have provided afterschool snacks for needy elementary school children at Sapphire Elementary School and Pine Tree Elementary School for many years. Throughout the school year our generous congregation shopped, packed and delivered healthy snacks, seven snacks a week for up to 70 children. Today we are assisting a group of 40 students at North Main Elementary with snacks on a weekly basis. The children and their families and teachers so appreciate these extra needed calories.
